Mr. Kitty and Pumpkin Playing (Video/Vimeo)

This is Mr. Kitty

Mr. Kitty was out in the elements here in Des Moines, Iowa. He was a wild kitty. He surely wouldn't have survived our arctic weather we've had this winter.
He is at home and he is learning how to cat, and Pumpkin is helping him while learning how to cat herself (she was also a wild kitty, but she had been in a home briefly we believe).

Open Letter to Amanda Palmer from a Pro-Life Christian Regarding “Voicemail to Jill”

Hi Amanda,
I have been a tremendous fan of yours for such a long time.
A good friend of mine told me about you, and you are so raw and talented your music and art truly resonated with me.
I am a person who is very pro-life, and very Conservative.
Abortion would be my one issue, if I had to pick one and become a "one issue voter".
I was hesitant to watch and listen to "Voicemail for Jill" because I was very concerned I would end up disliking you afterwards.
I had heard things like "it celebrates abortion and talks about an abortion party" and I was thinking "damn, that sounds very extreme and very antithetical to everything I believe".
I watched it just now with my wife who is also very pro-life.
She's not as big a fan of yours as I am, she's heard some of your music because I shared it with her and she thought it was good; but it is a different style than she usually chooses.
As we listened, we saw you were painting a picture of a woman holding herself on trial. She was weighing whether she was a good person, or would be demonized by society for what she chose to do.
You outlined that people treat someone who chooses to give birth so differently than someone who chooses, for whatever set of complicated reasons, to end the life of the unborn child.
Even those who know the person is not a monster are more reserved in their support.
Abortions cause suicidal thoughts and massive doubt in the hearts and minds of most women who choose to have one based on surveys and interviews.
If anyone needs support, and friendship, it is a woman who has made this choice.
They need to feel that they are valuable and that they are important and special.
They've been through something, right or wrong, and they are still a person.
Bravo to you for being able to take a complicated and emotional issue and creating a song that truly highlights the need for empathy and compassion at a very critical moment in a woman's life.
I very much enjoyed your song and look forward to the rest of the album.
Yours,
Russell Bert Waters
P.s., my wife found aspects of the video particularly thought provoking, as we watch the woman walking through her grief and interacting with people.
